Burton, Roger is the eldest of four children for Robert and Enid Burton, and was born on January 10, 1944 in Los Angeles, California. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Katie and four children Russ, Robyn, Jim and John and nine grandchildren. Also brother, David and sister, Sharon. He also leaves a large family, all dear to him and his beloved dogs, Buddy and Penny, and many friends. Roger graduated from Ganesha High School in Pomona, California in 1962 and soon after joined the U.S. Navy. He transferred to the U.S. Air Force, flying radar re-con during the Cuban missile crisis. He also served in Vietnam and on a remote radar site in Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1965. Furthering his education, Roger received an A.A. in business at Antelope Valley College and became a Certified Manager while working at Lockheed's Skunk Works in Palmdale, California. He retired from Lockheed after 30 years. Roger volunteered for traffic control at NASA- Edwards, A.F.B. for several Space Shuttle landings. He greatly enjoyed R. V.-ing and travelled to 49 states and Canada, where his parents were born. Roger also enjoyed a rousing golf game, even when the scores weren't "up to par" and had great fun at the Jet Hawks baseball games. Anyone who knew him can recall how he relished a spirited debate on almost any subject, usually following a relaxing family dinner. After retiring, he became more interested in the internet and spent many hours at his computer each day. He worked with his friend, John, setting up and servicing computers for the Charter Schools. Roger also reconnected with many high school and military friends by computer. Roger passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by loving family, after a courageous battle with Leukemia on May, 4 2015. He wanted to be remembered as a good man and he succeeded! He will be in our hearts forever and greatly missed until we are together again.
