Robert Keller

May 24, 1930 — May 8, 2016

Robert Keller of Palmdale, California, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday May 8, 2016. Bob grew up in the Detroit area and spent over 25 years in Michigan where he graduated from Cass Tech High School and secured his first career position with the Ford Motor Company.  As Bob’s career advanced, the family moved to various US and international locations.  Bob held positions in Business Management and as a Computer Consultant working with companies such as IBM, CSC, Coopers & Lybrand, Northrop Grumman and the Pentagon.  Bob traveled extensively in the US during his career especially after starting his own IT consulting company.  One of his most challenging, successful and exciting work projects was his 5-year assignment to Saudi Arabia where he, along with his family, lived while he set up the computer data center for Northrop Grumman.  Bob had a lifelong love of music and he was a talented musician and singer.  He played several instruments including the piano, clarinet and saxophone.  Bob was a member and founder of multiple bands, both in his High School years and throughout his adult life.  He and his bands entertained local audiences regularly where he played and sang at jazz, dance and wedding venues.  In retirement Bob continued to be a whirlwind of activity.  He was active and giving within his community and Christian affiliations.  He spent hours teaching computer skills in Adult Ed classes at Thousand Trails RV Campground in California.  He established a home publishing business where he provided services in publishing newsletters, church flyers and the monthly newsletter for the local Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club.  Bob also enjoyed creating many wonderful collections of family newsletters and family videos.  Bob and his wife Reen, also loved to ride their motorcycles for club rides, weekend trips in California, and family visits in Iowa.  Their motorcycle excursions took them on many day trips where they enjoyed sharing time with biker-friends as well as creating special “couple” time traveling along quiet backroads.  Bob leaves behind his dearest wife, Reen, who has been his soulmate for 29 years.  Other survivors include daughter Kelly, sister Jeanne, sister-in-law Marie, several grandchildren, a nephew Curt, and his loyal and loving furry companion, Angel.  A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11 am at Littlerock Community Church, 7854 Pearblossom Highway, Littlerock, California.  Those wishing to send flowers are encouraged to consider a donation to Hillsdale College, 33 E. College Street, Hillsdale, MI 49242, instead.  Arrangements are being handled by Chapel of the Valley Mortuary in Palmdale.
