Martha Inabel Coover, or Inabel (Ina) to family and friends died on December 10th, 2020 unexpectedly from complications during a Permanent Pacemaker insertion at AV (Antelope Valley) Hospital in Lancaster, California.
Inabel was born August 22nd, 1928 in Capron, Oklahoma, the daughter of Rev. Jerry Cecil Coover and Fern Elva Coover (Demaree). She was the sixth of eight children.
Inabel attended elementary school through high school at Helena, Pond Creek, Temple and Marlo Oklahoma. She went to Britton High School where she was a drum majorette and graduated in 1946. She also attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Inabel married James Earl Wasserbeck (Jim) on April 24th, 1948. (Jim passed away Oct 15th ,1981). They had three children, Sandra Sue (Sandy) born in 1949 and James Richard (Rick) born in 1951 in Oklahoma. They then moved to California where Debra Anne (Debbie) was born in 1953.
Inabel worked at Hughes aircraft for some time and when Jim started his own Plumbing business she worked as the Office Manager for the business. She was also a Girl/Boy Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher as well as being active in the PTA.
She was on a bowling league and also enjoyed playing golf during these years.
Inabel worked at KMPC radio station owned by Gene Autry in Hollywood for many years as the Credit Manager. She was also President of the “Women’s Credit Managers Association” which gave her the opportunity to do some travel which she loved. Going to Hawaii was one of the highlights.
Inabel retired in 1988 and lived with Sandy in Palmdale, California for the rest of her life. They were great roommates for over 30 years.
Rick and Stuart (son-in-law) also live in Palmdale and Deb in Santa Monica about one hour away. She always said her greatest accomplishment in life was being a Mother and her children agree that she is the “Best Mom Ever”.
Inabel loved life and was always ready for an adventure. Deb took her to Europe, she and her sister Lorraine (Kitty) took numerous cruises, another trip to Europe, and a very special trip to Israel with Kitty, brother James (Jimmy) and sister-in-law La Rue.
She also enjoyed trips with Deb to San Diego, Palm Springs and Santa Barbara. She was so much fun to be with and everyone who met her fell in love with her.
Inabel’s beautiful bright blue eyes full of love, light and laughter and her huge heart with infinite capacity for unconditional love will live in the hearts of those who loved her forever, especially her children.
In a handwritten Will found in her Bible which was written January 16th, 2002 she wrote:
“My children are the final stars of any crown on earth I may get. Being happy doesn’t mean everything is ‘perfect’, it means you’ve decided to see beyond the imperfections. Unconditional Love is my wish for all of you.”
Inabel was preceded in death by her parents, husband James E. Wasserbeck; brothers Jerry Coover and Jean Coover; and sister’s Ruby Lu Fenton, Geraldine Ruth McLennan and Irene Marie Vollmer: nephew Benny McLennan: nieces Judy Landrith and Charlotte Coover.
Inabel is survived by her children; Sandy, Rick, Deb Wasserbeck and Stuart Hanneman; Sister Lorraine Shultz Robertson; Brother Jimmy Coover; Step-granddaughter Natiya Guin (Bobby Buoncristiano); Great Goddaughter Katie Scarlett Liyan Day; Great-grandchildren Kailee (Kai), Grace, and Trajan (Tra) Buoncristiano; all of her nieces and nephews who she loves dearly and to all those she adopted into her heart and loved unconditionally.
