. Devout Father, Husband and Catholic, Lawrence Grabher passed away 5-13-18 after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren. Born to Immigrants from Austria Lorenzo and Marie Grabher on January 23, 1929, he excelled growing up in the Great Depression working from age 8, becoming a wonderful soccer player and dancer. He worked in Army Intelligence then came home to meet his future wife of 52 years, Margaret-Jean on the dance floor. He was a terrific father to his five children. Moving to California in 1965 to help Margaret with her health he worked as a machinist before moving to the Antelope Valley to try Real Estate. He bought inexpensive land but had to go back to work as a machinist at Lockheed where he excelled climbing the ladder in creative and inventive ways working on the Skunk Works Team for the U-2, SR-71 and the L-1011 Jumbo Jets. While raising 5 children he also was very involved at St. Mary's Church in Palmdale becoming the first Lector, Cantor, Minister of the Eucharist, at St. Mary's, Mira Loma Men's Prison and Mira Loma Women's Prison. He visited Acton Rehab Center, Mendenhall and Muntz Children's Centers as well as Chaplain for A.V. Hospital. He was the Second President of the Legion of Mary and visited Catholic classrooms to share his faith. He cared faithfully for Margaret when her Parkinson's and other ailments kept them both homebound for 20 years. More recently he took up bowling in his 70's and won many awards and trophies. He became involved in the Senior Dance Clubs in Palmdale and Lancaster, becoming President of the Palmdale Club for awhile. He is survived by 5 children, 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren all who enjoyed, respected and loved him.
His funeral will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Friday May 18th at 12:30 with a Rosary pro-ceding at noon. His burial will be at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Monday May 21st at 10 am. Any donations in his name can be sent to the Lancaster Senior Center which he loved saying the Pledge of Allegiance at.
