Kathryn Awbrey

AWBREY, Kathryn H. born November 21, 1919 in Bergman, Arkansas. Passed away February 16, 2015 in Palmdale, CA. She attended Bergman High School and was an all-star player on the girls’ basketball team. In April of 1941 she married Clell Harve Awbrey and they moved to San Fernando, CA. Both Kay and Clell worked at Lockheed on P-38’s during the war years. Their son Bill was born in 1945. 10 years later the family moved to Palmdale. Kay worked for the Palmdale School District as a cafeteria cashier at Palmdale Elementary School. After retiring she was active in the First Baptist Church of Palmdale, where she was a member since 1955. She is survived by her son, Bill Awbrey and his wife Carol, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and sister, Helen Sloan. A funeral service will be held at 11am Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Palmdale Community Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in her name to the Palmdale Community Church 1051 E.
