John Salvesvold

Born Sept. 28, 1937 to John A. & Gunda Salvesvold in Albany , N.Y. Passed away on Oct. 7, 2015 in Simi Valley Hospital. John was raised in E. Greenbush, N.Y. and graduated from Columbia H.S. He served in the U.S. Navy and lived in the AV 21 years. John was a Commercial/Corporate pilot. He was passionate in aviation, loved golf and "Honey Do's" lists. He was a proud holder of an ATP and held 12 A/C types. From the DC-3 to the Falcon and Gulfstream series Corporate jets. John was a wonderful, loving son, sibling, father & grandfather. Fiercely proud of his Norwegian heritage. He peacefully broke the surly bonds of earth surround by his "Viking Raiding Party". He loved, adored, and cherished his family & friends. Special thanks to Rev. Michael Mueller and the entire Grace Lutheran Community/Mike Haney & Sons of MH Aviation Services. "Long May You Soar". Put out your Hand and Touch the Face of God. He is survived by his wife Teri Jo Salvesvold; sons, Eric, Dane (Cloe) & Matt (Hannah); daughter, Sheri Avis (Scott); grandchildren, Taylor, Chloe, Megan, Lucas Salvesvold & Edward Jones; siblings, Jimmy (Loretta), Shirley Hill (Paul); former wife Donna Patnode; Joelle Patnode, Jake, Jessie & Julia Jungblutt, Brett Patnode (Claudia). Long time friend of many years, Dave Fontanella (Maggie). Preceded in death by his parents & sister Jean Larbig. Memorial will be held at 2 pm, Oct. 17, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church, Lancaster. Arrangements handled by Chapel of the Valley Mortuary. Reception to follow at MH Aviation Services, Fox Field, Lancaster, CA.
