BOWMAN, Joan Evelyn

Joan was called home by Our Loving Father on April 13, 2022. Family surrounded her at the time of
her passing. The only child of Arthur and Beatrice Erickson. Joan was born on Aug. 12, 1931, in
Chicago, Ill. It was there, in Chicago, she met her soulmate, Glenn (Bucky) Bowman; Joan was 11 years
old at the time, he was 12 years old. On May 20, 1950, they married and soon after moved to California.
In the early 1950s, they moved from Glendale, Calif. to Palmdale, Calif. Joan was the loving mother of s
even children: Debbie Smith, Vicki (Richard) Frederick, Judy Handy, Colleen Robertson, Buck (Angela)
Bowman, Joe Bowman and Bobbie Bowman. She has 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She
is preceded in death by her loving husband Glenn (Bucky) Bowman and two of her children, Joseph
Bowman and Bobbie Bowman. Although Joan had an outside career, she always considered her family
her priority. She had the love and patience of a saint and always made her husband and children feel
special and loved. Joan had a compassionate, loving heart and loved reading. Her bible was her favorite
book and she shared her love for God with all of us and anyone who knew her. Mom, we will miss your
sense of humor, smile, giggle, laugh, that twinkle in your eyes when you are being mischievous, your
stories and all your wisdom. Services will be at St. Mary’s Parish in Palmdale, May 6, 2022, beginning
at 11:00 a.m. The Most Holy Rosary; The Mass of Christian Burial; followed by graveside service at
Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Palmdale. There will be a reception to follow the burial at Gino’s Italian
