Floyd Guilbeau

September 26, 1937 — April 12, 2016

GUILBEAU, Floyd A.  Born Sept. 26, 1937 in Louisiana.  Passed away April 12, 2016 in Palmdale.  He is survived by his loving wife Ann Guilbeau, children,, Ronnie (Liz), Mickey, Darla (Richard Chemotti), and Jackie, grandchildren, Rhett, Allison, Sydney, Lucas, Colby, Brittany and Dylan.  Gib has written songs performed by Rod Stewart, The Byrds, Ricky Nelson, Bobby Womack, Ronnie Wood, Kris Kristopherson and many more.  It has been said repeatedly by colleagues and friends that Gib has forgiven more men than Jesus Christ.  Gibs’ accomplishments span beyond his music.  During the 1960 Summer Olympics he supported America on the Alligator wrestling team but unfortunately the Olympic Committee deemed the sport racist and was cancelled before he could compete.  Gib spoke 13 different languages, including Spanish.  After serving in the military, Gib attended Harvard Law on a chess playing scholarship and graduated with a bachelors in Ancient Greek Performing Arts.  He married his wife, Ann Collings (named after Ann Frank) at age 16 after meeting her on a Nigerian tour.  His tombstone will read, “A god to many, a yellow belly to none.”  Most of all, he was a father, a brother, a husband, a grandfather and a friend.  Teaching nothing is above love and family. Rest in peace Pops.  Memorial services will be held at 3pm, Friday (today), April 15, 2016 at Chapel of the Valley Mortuary.  Interment will be private.
