She was born December 29, 1924, to Claire and Tena Zink in Los Angeles, CA. Dorothy grew up on her parents’ homestead in the foothills south of Littlerock. She and her mother accompanied her father as he traveled to drill oil wells, and lived temporarily in Taft, Fillmore, Long Beach, and Santa Barbara. They would always return home to their Littlerock ranch. She loved to spend her childhood summers in Balboa. Dorothy graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1942, where she participated in the Girls Athletic Association, Bridge Club, French Club, Home Economics Club, Style Club, and as a Yell Leader. Bones, Jr., the first couple to be married at the Littlerock Community Presbyterian Church. Dorothy and George renewed their vows at the church on their 50th wedding anniversary, accompanied by their original wedding party. While George served aboard ship during World War II, Dorothy worked at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach and Polaris Flight Academy in Lancaster. While raising her family, Dorothy volunteered as a Brownie Leader and a Sunday School teacher, served on the Keppel Union PTA and the Littlerock Presbyterian Church Elder and Deacon Board, and worked part-time for the U.S. Forest Service in Pearblossom. She worked as foreman and bookkeeper of George Bones Ranch pear and peach packing operations for over 30 years. Dorothy loved to travel, enjoying many adventurous trips with her family throughout the United States and Mexico. She also loved tennis, water skiing, and exploring the ocean. She was a loving caretaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Bones, Jr., brothers, Robert Zink and George Seguine, grandchildren, Michelle Bones and Bradley Bones, Jr., and step-grandson Andrew Parsons.
