Charles Edwin Housinger, also lovingly known as "CHUCK ", passed away on December 22, 2023, at the age of 97. He was born on January 5, 1926, in Winton, California. Charles leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be forever treasured.
From an early age, Charles displayed a remarkable passion for adventure and a zest for life. In his younger years, he proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. For his dedicated service to his country, Charles was honored with the WWII Victory medal, as well as the American Area Campaign medal and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal. His bravery and commitment to defending freedom will always be remembered.
Following his military service, Charles pursued a career in engineering. He attended trade school to hone his skills and knowledge in this field. In 1955, he joined Rockwell International where he worked diligently for 33 years until his retirement in 1988. Charles's expertise and dedication significantly contributed to the success of the company.
In addition to his professional achievements, Charles had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy throughout his life. He had an adventurous spirit that led him to explore various activities such as hunting, fishing, and even flying. Embracing the great outdoors allowed him to find solace and experience moments of pure bliss.
However, above all else, Charles cherished his family wholeheartedly. He was immensely proud of each member and found immense joy in watching them thrive. His children Kurt Housinger and Jere Dail held a special place in his heart. Alongside their loving partners Kris Housinger and Janelle Dail respectively, they created a close-knit family unit filled with unconditional love and support.
The bond between Charles and his grandchildren was truly remarkable. His nine grandchildren looked up to him as a source of wisdom and guidance, finding comfort in his loving presence. As time went on, Charles was blessed with the arrival of fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. His legacy of love will continue to live on through each future generation.
Charles Edwin Housinger was preceded in death by his son Kim Dail, two daughters Sherry Avery, and Kathy Mckean.
Charles Edwin Housinger will be fondly remembered as a man of great integrity, compassion, and generosity. His outgoing nature and warm personality brought joy to all those fortunate enough to know him. Charles had an infectious spirit that brightened any room he entered, and his presence will be deeply missed by his surviving family and friends.
A funeral service will be held in Charles's honor at the Halley Olsen Chapel of the Valley in Palmdale, California, on January 4, 2024. The service will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 11:00 AM. Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects and bid farewell to this remarkable man who touched so many lives.
