Carmen Maria Negron, lovingly known as Lala to her family, passed into heaven peacefully in her home, on June 25, 2016 at the age of 93. Carmen was born on January 10, 1923, one of 12 children, in Ciales, Puerto Rico to Eduardo and Gregoria Salgado. After college, Carmen became a teacher. Later she moved to Manhattan, New York where she continued to teach and raise a family. She retired from teaching in 1968 and moved to California where she spent the rest of her life devoted to her family. Carmen loved gardening, sewing, crocheting, and especially cooking for her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Pablo and by her eldest daughter, Cookie Negron Hutchinson and her son, George Luis Negron. She leaves behind her youngest daughter, Elizabeth (Daniel Huerta), grandchildren Phil and Jeff Hutchinson (Jamie), Tony, James, Michelle (Jason Baker) and Nicole Negron, and Kaitlin, Alissa and Mia Huerta. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Teneisha, T.J., Olivia, Jason Jr., Nathan and Joanna, and great-great grandchild, Ansel. Carmen's devotion, generosity and mischievous grin will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Until we meet again, Lala, may you rest in the loving arms of God.
