He enjoyed a quiet life of gardening after his retirement. His wife Earline passed on April 5, 2006. He is survived by his daughter Julie and her husband John Denning, his son Mark, and his two grandsons, Wesley (US Army, stationed in South Korea) and Brennan Blake.
