Barbara Marvin

September 19, 1939 — July 4, 2015

Barbara Marvin grew to the age of 13 in San Diego, California.  Her father was off in a Submarine out of Pearl Harbor during WW II.  She would walk with her grandfather who patrolled the beaches during the war.  Barbara’s first job was picking strawberries.  She loved horses and had her own horse since she was a child.  She worked to support her horses.  Barbara attended AV High School and was in many organizations including Rainbow Girls and Job’s Daughters.  She went to AV Junior College for one year and was Homecoming Queen.  She was accepted to the University of Southern California.  She married Henry B. Marvin who also attended USC.  After college she returned to Lancaster to begin her teaching career of third and fourth graders.  She had one son, Henry H. Marvin that she spent her joy raising him her whole life.  She enjoyed raising her grandchildren.  Barbara helped the homeless and hungry of the AV for 35 years.  She drove people to doctor appointments in the San Fernando Valley day after day.  She believed in following what Christ said about helping the poor.  She always treated them with respect and kindness.  Jesus has a special place for her in heaven.
