Anthony Duncan Moore, Sr., a beloved figure in the lives of many, peacefully departed from this world on December 8, 2024, at the age of 64. He was born on August 15, 1960, in Laurel, Mississippi, where he spent his formative years surrounded by family and love. Anthony was the cherished only child of Ozell Moore and Lena Mae Duncan, who lovingly guided him throughout his life.
His childhood was filled with joy and laughter as he grew up alongside his two cousins, Darrell Duncan and Wilfred Duncan, who became like brothers to him. The bonds formed during those early years left an indelible mark on his heart, as did the influence of his paternal grandmother, Sarah Duncan, with whom he shared many treasured moments.
From a young age, Anthony demonstrated a deep faith, accepting Christ into his life and finding solace in worship. His spiritual journey began in Mississippi and continued when he moved to California in 1969 to further his education through the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
In 1979, Anthony took a significant step in his life by joining the United States Army, serving honorably for three years. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and determination that carried through to his professional endeavors. After his service, Anthony returned to California and found his purpose in education, first as a teacher assistant and later as a buildings and ground maintenance operator with LAUSD. It was during this phase of his career that he met Regina Robertson, with whom he formed a special bond that lasted until his passing. Together, they welcomed two wonderful children into their lives: Sarah Amiya Moore, whom he proudly named in homage to his grandmother, and Anthony Duncan Moore Junior.
Anthony's commitment to his career culminated in his retirement from LAUSD in June 2012, marking the end of a fulfilling chapter. His legacy continues through his two children, Sarah Amiya Moore and Anthony Duncan Moore Junior, as well as his two bonus children, Markell Turner Junior and Me’Dero Diamond Turner.
Preceding Anthony in death were his beloved parents, Ozell Moore and Lena Mae Duncan. He leaves behind a rich tapestry of relationships, including numerous relatives and friends, all of whom he treasured deeply.
Anthony Duncan Moore, Sr. will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, unwavering faith, and generous heart. His presence will be profoundly missed, but the memories shared will continue to be celebrated by all whose lives he touched.
